Right Mate - A Psychological Perception
Generally when I am coming in the bus to office I read some books, but today I was quite late and caught the bus in nick of the moment. When I got in the bus, I opened my bag only to find that I have forgot my book on my reading table at home.'Oops what should I do now!' , I looked out of window sun was shinning bright. I closed my eyes...but couldn't get sleep. I looked out again...I saw a young couple on a bike, the lady almost 26/27 wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and a tight jeans...and the guy , having a helmet on this head driving the bike. The bike was going in the same direction as our bus, and somehow I couldn't stop myself gazing at the couple. After a few minutes the bus stopped in a signal, the bike also stopped.Eventhough it was 7:30 in the morning, there were quite a number of people in the signal. I don't know why, but somehow I couldn't stop myself looking at the couple on the bike. I was looking at them and suddenly I noticed that, the lady planted a big kiss at the gentleman's shoulder. 'Ohhh....it’s all too private, Archita. You shouldn't look at them anymore.' I thought to myself and closed my eyes. Closing my eyes, from somewhere a thought came to my mind...'Did the girl do the right thing? Kissing a guy in a big crowd. Is this the right thing to do? They might be married, but is this the right thing to do?' I was questioning myself and then what I found was really nice. Let me share those feelings with you now.
Human beings strive for basically three types of happiness: physical, mental and spiritual. What kind of happiness satisfies a particular person differs from one individual to another. For some people physical happiness is the sole source of happiness. Such people get turned on by physical attraction. For them mental and spiritual happiness has negligible meaning. They are happy as long as their physical needs are satisfied. Almost 60-75% of the population looks out for physical happiness. But this kind of happiness is a temporary one. Lasts for a short while. Often people take it as love, but what I refer this to is Infatuation. I feel this kind of happiness is short lived and might result in a disaster after a few years, once the physical beauty is fades out.
The second type which I call is mental happiness, I won't say most but a group of people may be 10-15 % are turned on by intelligence. They are not very much concerned about the physical looks and beauty, but look out for similar mentality in their mates. I can site a few examples, where I have seen such kind of mental attraction. The best one I can say is the example of Dr. N.R.Narayan Murthy and Mrs.Sudha Murthy. What I have found is such couples live a very happy and balanced life for a long period of time. Turbulence is normally not seen in such kind of people and they indulge in a very happy family life.
Third kind, which I call, spiritual happiness is rarest and is found 1 in 100. The best example I can site is the relationship of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Ma Sharda Devi. Both complemented each other spiritually and their love is the rarest among all. Such kind of love/ happiness is the rarest and most long lasting. In today's material world such kind of happiness is almost not found.
At times happiness goes through phases; it starts with physical attraction and ends with mental or spiritual happiness. The best example I can give for this is Mahatma Gandhi. If you read 'My Experiment with truth' you can get to know why!The perfect mate, in my view will be one who has all the three kinds balanced.
Let me see, if I get my Mr. Perfect. ;)
* Note: These are my own views, if anyone doesn't agree with my views, I respect their feelings also.
